Tanner Newans

B.Ed Secondary
Tanner started his dance training at the age of 11, in tap and jazz. He then progressed over the next 4 years training in Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Musical Theatre and Lyrical. During this time Tanner studied the A.D.A.P.T. syllabus which was created by Canadian dance legends, Brian and Faye Foley.
Tanner interrupted his dance training in late 2002 in order to join a marching band, where he played percussion. During his 2 years with the Red Deer Royals Marching Band, he travelled to Monza, Italy where the band competed in the World Championships of Marching Show Bands and won a Gold Medal. Tanner returned to formal dance training while completing his undergraduate degree, training in Ballroom and Modern/Contemporary. Believing firmly in the value of dance experience, Tanner utilized every opportunity in his course work and student teaching placements to incorporate hip-hop ballet, jazz and modern.
In August 2008, Tanner relocated to Calgary to teach Drama and Theatre Arts IB at a local high school. He has assisted with choreography for a school ballet production of Cinderella as well as Dance 35 Final Projects. Tanner is thrilled and excited to share his passion of dance with all of this students.
