  • Kate Probert | Soul Connexion

    < Back Kate Probert Dance Teacher Kate Probert Kate has been dancer at Soul Connexion since 2010, shortly after the studio had opened. She started competing in dance almost a decade ago and has trained in many styles of dance, including ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, acro and musical theatre. Her favourite styles are ballet, jazz and musical theatre. The beginning of her teaching journey started when she assisted her first tiny toes class at age 10. After assisting with classes for many years, she joined the Soul Connexion Apprenticeship Program where she began to learn new skills and receive more leadership opportunities. This fall, she will be attending University of Calgary for a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama and Elementary Education. She has a huge passion for dance and teaching, so she’s looking forward to sharing that passion with her students. Q & A with Kate What inspires you?   • Gabrielle Springett | Soul Connexion

    < Back Gabrielle Springett Dance Teacher Gabrielle Springett Royal Academy of Dance, Registered Teacher Status (RAD RTS) Miss Springett grew up in South Western Ontario, where she fell in love with ballet from a picture of a ballerina on a record of Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty. She brings over 20 years of teaching experience and has had a versatile professional career not only as a dancer, but as a choreographer, and director. She danced with the Cambridge Theatre Dance School where she had many performing experiences; including lead roles with The Black Walnut youth ballet company. She also had various opportunities to dance with Les Grand Ballet Canadiens from Montreal, when on tour for major productions such as the Nutcracker. Later, she attended Ryerson Theater School in Toronto, where she majored in dance and voice. While in Toronto, she studied modern dance with the Toronto Dance Theatre and the Russian method of ballet, Vagonava style. Miss Springett began her teaching career in 1998 and become a registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance in 2000. Following this, she achieved recognition in music, human anatomy and the history of ballet. In 2005, she opened her own dance school on the west coast of Vancouver Island called the Rainforest Dancers. She moved to Calgary in 2011 where she has taught at various schools in the city including, The Dance Factory. The school of Alberta Ballet Open Division and Danscott. She Currently works for The Royal Academy of Dance as a mentor to new teachers embarking on their teaching journey. Miss Springett is excited to join the Soul Connexion teaching team for her third season this upcoming season! Q & A with Gabrielle What inspires you? Being in nature and by the ocean gives me strength and the energy to do what I love What song moves you? La Vergine Degli Angeli from La Forza del Destino Act 2 Scene 2 (Verdi.)     < Back Pamela Backus Yoga Teacher Pamela Bachus Pamela is a passionate yogi who wants to share her practice with everyone around her. She believes yoga is a practice both on and off the mat, thus providing her students the knowledge to confidently take their practice beyond her class. She is currently studying Fitness & Wellness Management at SAIT, hoping to one day become a Recreational Therapist. Her passion lies in flow and gentle yoga but loves to explore and teach a variety of practices. Q & A with Pamela What inspires you? Peoples happiness and strive to find peace within.     < Back Vika Hushchenko Soul Sister /Dance Teacher Viktoriia Hushchenko Miss Vika has passion and love for children and has recently joined us from the Ukraine. She is a Paediatrician and dance teacher bringing amazing knowledge of children into the studio. She started dancing at age of 5 studying Ballet, Hip-Hop, Jazz-Funk, Ukrainian National Dance, Jazz, and Contemporary. She performed in various festivals, city events, and won several competitions. Her talent allowed her to begin teaching at age 15 after successfully completing her teaching exams. She taught while attending University to become a doctor. She loves sharing her ideas and inspiring others through dance to students of all ages as she believes it a positive outlet. She also teaches an Adults Heels class focusing on empowering women. Miss Vika has incredible courage to start her new life in Canada and Soul Connexion is excited to welcome her. She is working towards obtaining her Canadian doctor’s degree and her dream is to open a dance studio. Miss Vika has a huge passion for dance, creativity and sharing her heart with all of the dancers at Soul Connexion. Q & A with Vika What inspires you?   • Denise Nerier | Soul Connexion

    < Back Denise Nerier Social Media Manager/Dance Teacher Denise Nerier ADAPT Certified Denise was a very shy little kid until she was enrolled in dance at 3 years old. She has trained in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Tap. Her favourite style has to be Jazz, but she has a soft spot for Lyrical. Growing up in Calgary, she was a competitive dancer for eight years and fell in love with being on stage. Her love for teaching kids began as a student apprentice at her old studio. Denise continued her training with the Edge Studios Post-Graduate Program, and continues to train with the SHifT Dance. Her current performance experience includes shows for YYC Arts and Hermès. Denise recently completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Calgary. She is excited to dedicate more time to teaching and can’t wait to inspire young dancers in the studio. Denise graduated from the Associated Dance Arts for Professional Teachers program in 2024. Q & A with Denise What inspires you? I am inspired by people and the stories they have to share. To be fully present when I am around others, I allow myself to discover aspects of my life that I can reconnect with. What song moves you? this is me trying by Taylor Swift. Book a Trial Class Recreational Dance Our recreational classes are designed to inspire and keep students active in a fun and engaging environment. Our programs run from September to June, and our dancers have the opportunity to showcase their skills at a year-end showcase. Additionally, we host two viewing days throughout the year for families to observe the class setting and see the growth of their child. Pre-Competitive Dance Our pre-competitive dance program offers a great way for dancers to explore a competitive experience without a significant commitment. Students in our pre-competitive program have performance opportunities throughout the year, including a Gala performance, one competition and a year-end showcase. To excel in their routines, students are required to take a minimum of two classes, focusing on skill development. Competitive Dance Our competitive dance team is designed for those looking to take their training to the next level. To excel, competitive dancers commit to a minimum of four hours per week of training, enabling them to reach new levels of growth. Many competitive dancers dedicate six to eight hours per week to achieve excellence. Our competitive dancers participate in four competitions, a Gala performance and a year-end showcase.
